Carabins sweep Martlets in Quebec final but both advance to CIS championship

Kaiva Mateus of Montreal West, Que., had 10 kills, a pair of aces and to stuff blocks but it was all in vain as the Martlets fell 3-0 to the No.6-ranked Montreal Carabins at Love Competition Hall, Friday, Montreal swept the two games to capture the league championship series 2-0

Redmen Porter becomes first volleyball player to win a major award.

Jeffrey Porter and Matthew Mosseler, both members of the McGill University men's volleyball team, have earned second team all-star honours from the Quebec Student's Sports Federation, which has announced its all-stars and major award winners for the 2009-10 season.

Bingo night to highlight tribute to grads in hoops and volleyball

The McGill University basketball and volleyball teams will both be honouring their graduating players when they host their final regular-season home games this weekend. In recognition of the graduating athletes, McGill Athletics & Recreation will be holding a "Bingo Seniors Night" during a basketball twin-bill, Saturday.

McGill masters Montreal, snaps 9-year losing skid to Carabins.

Matthew Mosseler paced the visiting McGill Redmen to a stunning 3-0 victory over the second-place University of Montreal Carabins before 228 fans in men's volleyball action on Friday, ending a nine-year, 32-game losing streak against their cross-town rivals.

Pirali rocks, Redmen roll, Sherbrooke stunned

Rookie Yannick Pirali scored a game-high 22 points and was one of four Redmen to reach double figures in scoring as McGill shocked Sherbrooke 3-1 with a home-court victory in men's volleyball before 252 noisy fans at Love Competition Hall, Friday. After dropping a heart-thumping opening set by a 30-28 score, the Redmen rallied for to win the next three sets 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23.
