The eighth iteration of the Desautels National Women in Business Conference returns to Montreal this week. With the summer 2021 recruitment process underway, “The Next Wave” provides a unique venue for female students to learn from and connect with industry leaders. Three events headline the conference: a keynote speech from Vice Ventures founder Catharine Dockery, a branding event led by Faryn Weiner, and a networking social.

Last weekend St. Petersburg hosted a group of 37 business students and alumni from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, as part of the institution’s “Hot Cities” initiative.

… Speaking to the St Petersburg Times, trip leader Dr. Karl Moore, a lecturer in business leadership and strategy at McGill’s world-renowned Desautels Faculty of Management, explained that this trip was a chance for students to experience the global business environment first-hand.

McGill University Desautels Faculty of Management students Jean Vianney Cordeiro, David Gao, Shirley Xu Wang and their team have won the 2013 National Ace the Case competition on March 2. Jean Vianney, David and Shirley’s team had earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2013 KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) in Madrid, Spain, coming up on April 2-5.

Desautels’ Bronfman building opened its doors to the unique and competitive world of the entertainment industry by hosting the first Entertainment Management Conference (EMC) from February 1st to 2nd.

… The first day of the conference allowed the participants to learn about the different facets of the entertainment industry from some of the field’s most prestigious names. The keynote speakers included President and Co-Founder of Just for Laughs, Andy Nulman (BCom’83), and CEO and Founder of INK Entertainment, Charles Khabouth.

MBA student Alexis Pradie has been chosen as the recipient of a 1938 Champions Award by the Committee on Enrolment and Student Affairs and the Martlet Foundation. The 1938 Champions Awards were established in 1991 by the surviving members of the 1938 McGill Intercollegiate Champions in football and hockey in memory of their teammates who lost their lives in the service of their country during World War II. Winners of the awards must have not only good academic records but must also have demonstrated leadership through service, dedication and teamwork.

On Friday September 21, the IMA was successfully re-launched with the first annual International Management Networking Breakfast. The event was sponsored by RDA Capital and hosted in Bronfman building. With 43 people in attendance including students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the IMA executive team, it was an excellent start to accomplishing the IMA’s vision to build a strong community within the International Management program.
