Official Launch of the Social Innovators' Integration Lab (SIIL)

On May 30, 2016, members of the McGill and Montreal community gathered for the launch of the Social Innovators' Integration Lab (SIIL). The SIIL research project, located at Le Salon 1861 in the heart of Montreal's Quartier de l’Innovation, is dedicated to develop scientific and practical knowledge around the social economy, social entrepreneurship and social innovation in urban environments.

McGill Management Students Focus on Helping Syrian Refugees

SEI Impact Internship Program - 2016 Cohort Announced

The Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) is pleased to announce the Social Economy Initiative’s Impact Internship cohort for the 2016 year. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the SEI Impact Internship Program pairs top undergraduate students who offer various management skills with social-purpose organizations for ten weeks over the summer.

McGill students give future Syrian newcomers English lessons online

Many people are offering help to Syrian refugees after they arrive in Quebec, but students are reaching out to refugees while they remain overseas. ... "We're filling that void," said Anita Nowak. The Mentor-in-Residence at McGill said the image of Alan Kurdi, the young Syrian boy who drowned trying to make it to Turkey, motivated them to reach out overseas. Social Entrepreneurship Workshop: Designing your career, your enterprise, and your impact

On November 13, 2015, the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) and the Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship co-sponsored a half-day workshop on social entrepreneurship. Entitled “Social Entrepreneurship: Designing your career, your enterprise, and your impact”, the event featured a broad range of attendees – from those new to the concept of entrepreneurship to established entrepreneurs.

Now Accepting Applications for the Integrated Management Student Projects Fund (IMSPF)

The most important challenges faced by society and managers in contemporary organizations, be they private, public or not-for-profit, are closely related. They do not respect disciplinary boundaries and cannot be adequately tackled with knowledge from just one management function or university faculty. The Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM)’s mandate is to address these challenges by developing an integrated approach to management - one that breaks down disciplinary barriers, embraces multiple perspectives and encourages holistic thinking about organizations.

Internship Opportunity with the Social Economy Initiative in partnership with the McGill Quartier de l’Innovation

The Social Economy Initiative in partnership with the McGill Quartier de l’Innovation (QI) team invites McGill student (graduate and undergraduate) applications to a part-time 6-month internship developing a case study on McGill’s partnership and involvement with the Salon 1861 (Gestion immobilière Quo Vadis).  The project will be co-supervised by Desautels Professors Emmanuelle Vaast and Ruthanne Huising with support from Ms. Isabelle Péan of the McGill QI team.
