Beginning the week of January 3, 2017, McGill students and staff can sign into the Classic Catalogue using their McGill Username and password. Users wishing to authenticate will see a sign-in screen that looks very much like the Minerva sign-in interface. The sign-in with your barcode and PIN remains available, but if you have forgotten your PIN, this added option will enable you to access your Library Account.

The McGill Library and Archives is pleased to welcome Jeffry Archer as the new Associate Dean, User Services, on a four-year term effective January 3, 2017.

“Jeffry will be an incredible asset to the entire McGill community. Throughout his career, he has shown himself to be a hands-on leader who understands the importance of listening to the diverse needs of students, faculty and researchers and has the ability to develop services to best support the community,” said C. In  conjunction with Open Access Week and Homecoming, 135 years of McGill graduate scholarship is now available online! Years in the making, the electronic thesis and dissertation collection now includes almost 42,000 open access McGill theses and dissertations dating back to 1881. Theses and dissertations are searchable by faculty and department, degree, or subject at escholarship.mcgill.ca. To date almost 7,000 theses have been digitized representing almost a million pages.

As governments struggle to keep pace with rapid advancements in science and technology, a new report by the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP) and the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) outlines how governments can better incorporate that knowledge in policy-making processes and improve the quality of government decisions.
