In September 2021, the McGill Desautels Faculty of Management concluded its first edition of the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Kate Richardson, a graduate of the McGill Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, became the first graduate of this new program. As a senior manager, she felt the Black Belt would be a key asset to her role and credits the program with deepening her understanding of data, its significance and how it can be used to solve problems.

In 2002, McGill became the first university in Canada to offer the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program through the Desautels Faculty of Management. Alex Boussetta, a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt who teaches the Green Belt and Black Belt programs at McGill, has expanded his reach to help organizations like the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) improve the quality of their services. Through Lean Six Sigma training, members of the CMHA’s Halton Region branch have discovered new tools to measure and improve program effectiveness.

Congratulations to Alex Boussetta for receiving the Dean’s Service Award for Outstanding Contribution.

Former Dean of the Desautels Faculty of Management, Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou, established and awarded this special Dean’s Service Award to Alex, however, the original presentation was delayed until this year.

Teaching at McGill University since 2003, Alex is recognized for his considerable contributions to the Faculty through his work at the graduate and executive program levels, particularly in leading the Lean Six Sigma series.
