Voss is Boss in final game at McConnell Arena

Team captain Evan Vossen scored the game-winner and added a helper as the top-ranked McGill Redmen skated to a narrow 4-3 win over Carleton in men's hockey at McConnell Arena, Saturday. It was the final regular-season home game of an industrious collegiate career for the fifth-year veteran who has played 204 career contests overall, a school record for longevity.

Despite a rare loss over the weekend, the McGill Redmen managed to hold on to the number one position in the closest national poll of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey season. The Redmen (18-3-2), who last Tuesday moved past the UNB Varsity Reds for their first No. 1 ranking in five years, received eight first-place votes and 151 points this week from the 17-member media panel.

Babcock inspires Verreault-Paul and Redmen to victory over Gee-Gees

Francis Verreault-Paul, an All-Canadian senior from Mashteuiatsh, Que., scored twice - including the game-winner - and added an assist as No.1-ranked McGill skated to an easy 7-2 triumph over visiting Ottawa in OUA men's hockey before 390, including Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, at McConnell Arena, Saturday.

McGill grad to receive Military Decoration from Governor General, Thursday

David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present a Meritorious Service Medal on Thursday to Major Derek Prohar, a McGill University graduate from Avonlea, Sask., who played hockey and football at McGill. The presentation ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., in Rideau Hall.

Babcock shows his alma maters

It was billed as "An evening with Mike Babcock" and it didn't disappoint. CIS MEN'S HOCKEY TOP 10 (#10): McGill remains No. 2 in nation for 8th consecutive week

In the closest Top 10 of the campaign, UNB (13-3-2) received nine of 17 first-place votes - five less than a week ago - and 160 points from the national media panel, compared to six first-place nods and 146 points for the McGill Redmen (16-2-2), who remain at No. 2 for the eighth consecutive week.

Varsity goalie gives Redmen the Blues in Hogtown

Byron Elliott of Burlington, Ont., tallied twice and goaltender Garrett Sheehan from Cremona, Alta., made 43 saves as the Toronto Varsity Blues surprised the visiting McGill Redmen, ranked No.2 in Canada, with a 4-3 upset in university hockey at Varsity Arena, Saturday. The result halted McGill's seven-game win streak in league play.
