As cultural life thrives in Montreal and expands outside of downtown and into the different neighbourhoods, the urban night represents a hotly disputed cultural and social space. Building on last year's discussion on the night and cultural neighbourhoods, Culture Montréal, The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada and The Urban Night Research Team, and the POP Symposium present a public conversation aimed at producing a written manifesto for the recognition and preservation of a cultural nightlife in Montreal.

McGill University’s Indigenous Awareness Week is designed to increase awareness at McGill about Indigenous peoples in Canada. The week honours the many Indigenous cultures across the country including First Nations, Métis and Inuit. The week also offers an opportunity to collaborate with community partners and draws active participation from McGill students, faculty and staff. The week is organized by the Social Equity and Diversity Education Office at McGill University.

On September 18-19, 2014, the American Bar Association's Forum on Air and Space Law will hold its 2014 Annual Conference at the Westin Hotel in Old Montreal. This year's Conference will feature a series of panels that will provide valuable overviews and updates concerning matters of critical importance to the aviation and aerospace industries. The panel topics will include consumer rights, labor law issues, divergent interpretations of the Warsaw/Montreal Conventions, international aviation traffic rights, space law developments, and global competition law issues.
Streaming is positioned at the centre of the future of recorded music and society is subsequently tasked with renegotiating the terms of its relationship to recorded music. Participants consider cultural and industry ramifications of this shift towards streaming, specifically within the context of a smaller scale market like Canada with its distinct copyright systems and traditions of public protection.
