Under the directorship of Fady Dagher (EMBA’12), the police department for the urban agglomeration of Longueil (SPAL), along with the City of Longueuil, recently received a top municipal prize from the Union Des Municipalités Du Québec (UMQ).

The Joseph-Beaubien Prize, awarded during a virtual gala held on May 13, recognizes Dagher and his colleagues for developing a successful five-week immersion project that trains police officers to respond more effectively to evolving citizen needs.

Two McGill graduates have reached the divisional championship of the Toastmasters International, a speech evaluation competition created in 1924 to promote public speaking and leadership skills internationally. Jean-Francois Bertrand (EMBA’14) captured first place in the discourse of assessment in French, while Michael Rodrigues (EMBA’20) won the English speech assessment. They join two others in the next round of the competition, scheduled to take place virtually on March 20.

EMBA alumna Rita-Rose Gagné (EMBA’12) will be joining real estate investment trust company Hammerson as CEO and executive director at the end of this year.

Gagné has most recently served as president of growth markets for real estate company Ivanhoé Cambridge, where she was responsible for $7.6 billion of real estate assets across Asia Pacific and Latin America.

“The retail and real estate sectors are going through a period of unprecedented change which makes this a very exciting time to be joining the business,” Gagné comments.
