Desautels Global Expert, Andy Nulman (BCom’83), will be joining the Festival du rire de Montréal initiative as a consultant, bringing much of his experience as the co-founder of the Just for Laughs festival to bear.

The Festival du rire de Montréal aims to refresh the concept of comedy festivals, while also putting the creativity and talent of local comedians in the international spotlight.

A Montreal Gazette op-ed co-authored by Just For Laughs co-founder (and Desautels Global Expert) Andy Nulman (BCom'83) makes the case that the new lights on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, which were switched on for the first time on May 17th for Montreal’s 375th birthday, will help remake the bridge as a city landmark on par with the Eiffel Tower or the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Montreal-based YouTube mega-channel Watchmojo recently launched a hockey web show through its new Watchmojo Studios division. The Lineup is part panel show and part gameshow, pitting teams of personalities against each other in a hockey-trivia battle, with each episode following a specific theme. The inaugural episode was about the all-time top 10 NHL forwards and featured Andy Nulman (BCom'83), co-founder of Play the Future and former CEO of Just For Laughs. Mr. Nulman enjoyed his experience, saying that “The Lineup was a blast.

Since January, I've been teaching a somewhat different type of course at McGill University. While saddled with the unfortunate standard curriculum name "Marketing and Society," the class is anything but.

When I first put this course together, I had a discussion with two academics I respect immensely, Prof. Morty Yalovsky of McGill (who used to be MY stats prof in my undergrad years) and Prof. Pete McGraw of the University of Colorado at Boulder (and co-author of the upcoming book "The Humor Code").

Most professors exhaust themselves trying to get their students off of social media. Andy Nulman (BCom'83), however, has designed his entire class around being on it.

In what’s believed to be the first syllabus of its kind, McGill University’s marketing and society class uses YouTube’s Creator Playbook as its sole course book. And, in lieu of a final exam, students will be evaluated on their launch of a unique channel on the video-sharing site.

Desautels’ Bronfman building opened its doors to the unique and competitive world of the entertainment industry by hosting the first Entertainment Management Conference (EMC) from February 1st to 2nd.

… The first day of the conference allowed the participants to learn about the different facets of the entertainment industry from some of the field’s most prestigious names. The keynote speakers included President and Co-Founder of Just for Laughs, Andy Nulman (BCom’83), and CEO and Founder of INK Entertainment, Charles Khabouth.
