$4.67M from Brain Canada will help probe the brain’s mysteries and create international research links

Research and Innovation and IT Services are pleased to welcome Marc Rousseau to the role of Director, Research Software / Directeur du Logiciel de Recherche. In this new role, Rousseau provides support and advice to the McGill research community on software, from grant applications to the implementation of research activities. He will also lead the development of the McGill Digital Research Services team, which will assist researchers in all fields of study with resources and tools in research data management (RDM), research software (RS) and advanced research computing (ARC).

SSHRC invests over $80k in new McGill research projects through the Partnership Engage Grants competition, two of which are directly related to COVID-19 research.

Recently, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced the recipients of its latest competition of Partnership Engage Grants, as well as recipients of its Special Initiative COVID-19 grant competition. Four McGill researchers received funding through Partnership Engage grants for their projects, two of which received grants under the Special Initiative COVID-19 competition.

The European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD) has granted 1.6 million euros in support of an international research collaboration specific to the ultra-rare genetic disease, Schinzel-Giedion Syndrome (SGS). The international team of researchers is coordinated by the Douglas Research Centre and McGill’s Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Psychiatric Genetics, Carl Ernst. The EJP RD is a joint program between major funding bodies from over 25 countries, including the CIHR and FRQS.
