on behalf of Michael Di Grappa, Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance) The McGill University Non-academic Certified Association (MUNACA) began a general strike at 6 a.m. this morning. MUNACA represents many of the clerical workers, as well as lab technicians and other support staff who work at McGill. It is unfortunate that we have been unable to agree on terms for a new contract.
As more details come to light on the bombing and shootings that killed 76 people in Norway on Friday, some members of the McGill community may be concerned about loved ones, friends or colleagues who may have been affected by this tragedy. We’d like to offer our support by reminding McGill students and staff about the various services available to them:
Please note that the sidewalk in front of Wilson Hall (3506 University St.) has been cordoned off and the University St. exit/entrance to the building has been closed for the next few days. McGill University Safety staff will be working with SOS Richelieu to volunteer with the cleanup efforts and provide much-needed relief to thousands of victims. As part of a redesign of the www.mcgill.ca website, we're overhauling the McGill home page and we need your help to make sure it does everything you need it to do. That's why we've created a five-minute survey asking current and prospective students, staff, faculty and the whole McGill community how well our current home page responds to their needs.
How engaging is your McGill experience? Take the National Survey of Student Engagement at http://tinyurl.com/nsse-mcgill and let us know. We'll use your comments to improve our services and make McGill a more engaging place. Fill out the survey before June 1, and you could win one of two iPads.
