Please be advised Microsoft has released a critical update (id MS08-067)to address an RPC vulnerability in Windows operating systems. Refer to the Information Security Alerts page at http://www.mcgill.ca/infosec/news/ for details.
Maintenance on the BlackBerry server will be performed on Thursday, October 23, 2008 starting at 11:30pm and lasting around an hour. Blackberry services will be interrupted during this period.
Maintenance on the Wireless service will be performed on Friday, October 24, 2008 starting at 5:00 a.m. and lasting around two hours. During this time wireless users at the downtown and MacDonald campuses, including Residences, may experience some connectivity issues for around 15 minutes.
Between Friday October 24 and mid-December, McGill Student email accounts will be migrated from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2007. If your mailbox is migrated, you will notice a slight change in the user interface when you access your email, but no loss of functionality. There will be a very brief downtime of approximately 5 to 10 minutes during this upgrade.
Some IT services will be unavailable for approximately 10 minutes each, between 10 pm and 11 pm this evening, due to system maintenance
Facilities Management will be conducting a power transfer Wednesday, October 22 from 3:00 am to 7:00 am, which will affect equipment in buildings in the Leacock sector (see full announcement for affected buildings). We anticipate some network disruption and potential problems with some of the classroom technology after power is restored. See full announcement for details.
Maintenance to the McConnell Engineering Building network system will take place Saturday, October 11. The building will have no network connectivity from approximately 9:00 am - 9:00 pm for jacks that terminate in the 3rd floor Telco Closet. Affected users have already been alerted.
The normal Tuesday schedule of course activities is cancelled for December 2, 2008. In its place, all lectures, labs, conferences and other course-related activities that are normally held on Mondays will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 as well. This change in schedule is to make up for activities that are cancelled on Monday, October 13 due to Thanksgiving Day.
