Around noon on Tuesday, August 11, a gas main was inadvertently ruptured in the course of construction work near the corner of University and Sherbrooke Streets. The pipe was sealed within an hour and people were shortly thereafter allowed to proceed back into the affected buildings. The emergency situation is over.

We are pleased to announce that Xerox Canada has been selected to provide a print management solution for McGill University. The first phase of this solution, scheduled for the month of August, involves replacing the current Canon departmental copier fleet with Xerox’s multifunctional devices (MFDS). Detailed information regarding the upcoming installation of these devices will follow.

What is McGill doing about the flu and how it might affect the University? As concern spreads about the potential effect the H1N1 flu pandemic might have on University operations now and in the fall, it is important to outline some of the steps McGill is taking to minimize disruption to people and operations.
Telus, McGill's external telephone carrier, is currently experiencing problems with their Central Office. As a result, McGill phone users may experience problems with both incoming and outgoing calls, and error messages such as "Number out of service".
Please note that there will be 2 maintenance periods, during which electricity will be shut down in Burnside Hall: Thursday, June 18, 7 am - 8 am Friday, June 19, from 3 am - 8 am There will be no power in the building, except for emergency lights and emergency elevators. IT systems will be running on backup power; however there is a risk that essential IT services may be interrupted.
