Senate Subcommittee on Women to acknowledge "International Women's Day"

March 8 is International Women's Day. It is a day to celebrate the economic, cultural, social and political achievements of women and to consider what still needs to be done to advance women's rights. Please join us, and other members of the McGill community, as we honour women everywhere and work together to protect and promote women's rights and equity around the world.

Macdonald Campus boil water advisory

Please note that a boil-water advisory has been issued for the Macdonald campus because of temporary problems with the chlorinator. Boiling water for one minute kills all water-borne disease causing micro-organisms. Bottled water will be provided to the campus until the machinery is repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Website to be disrupted during Oct. 14 emergency communications test

On Thursday, Oct. 14, there will be a university-wide test of our automated notification service, "McGill | Attention!" Phase 1 of the test will occur at approximately 10:40am. Phases 2 and 3 will disrupt all traffic to the www.mcgill.ca website from approximately 9:00pm to 9:30pm.

Floods in Pakistan

The devastation from damage and disease in the wake of catastrophic floods in Pakistan remains an urgent problem. More than 1,600 have been killed and an estimated 17.2 million people have been affected since the floods occurred toward the end of July, according to the United Nations. The need for relief support is enormous.

McGill continues to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan where the country’s worst flooding in nearly a century has affected more than 14 million people and left at least 1,600 dead, according to the United Nations.

Docteur-Penfield Ave. closed at Peel

The replacement of a major water main at the corner of Peel and Docteur-Penfield will result in some partial and temporary street and sidewalk closings in the area until late September.

Changes to Lower Campus starting May 28

Guided by the Master Plan’s planning and design principles, the University is working to enhance our campus green spaces. On May 28, 2010, changes to the Downtown Lower Campus will create a pedestrian friendly campus space, as free as possible of vehicles.

As you might have read or heard, Bureau canadien d'investigations et d'ajustements (or CBIA), the company that is contracted to provide uniformed security personnel to McGill, has filed for bankruptcy protection. Please be assured that McGill is taking all steps that are required to maintain continuity in security services on campus at all times to safeguard our community and property.
