Gabriela Montero, piano “The Queen of Improvisation” (The Associated Press), Gabriela Montero leads a magnificent international career, appearing in the world’s greatest performance halls, often with a program made up entirely of on-the-spot improvisations based on audience suggestions. This concert is presented as part of the 2014 Montreal International Musical Competition.
Strange things started happening around 1900... The familiar melodies and chords of Romantic music were transformed into unsettling soundscapes, frightening but mysteriously attractive. Take the thrilling voyage from Brahms to Schoenberg, through Bax and Morawetz, ending up with a new work written for VivaVoce by Nicolas Gilbert.
