The Schulich School of Music welcomes Georgina Born, Professor of Music and Anthropology at Oxford University and Professorial Fellow of Mansfield College, to McGill and Montreal. Professor Born will hold the Schulich Distinguished Visiting Chair in Music from 2013 to 2015.

Congratulations to Camille Renaud, trombone, for winning first place and to Maria Fuller, piano, for winning second place in their respective categories at the National Music Festival. The National Music Festival is organized annually by the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (www.fcmf.org) and was held August 7-10 2013 at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo Ontario.
Early Music Doctoral Student Gili Loftus awarded 2nd Prize & Audience Prize at International Competition (updated)

The violinist Andrew Dawes, (who held the inaugural Catherine Thornhill Steel Chair from September 1, 2006 to April 30, 2007) has been awarded a Governor General's Lifetime Artistic Achievement award. Dawes will receive the award, and a cash prize of $25,000 in a ceremony to be held May 31, 2013 in Ottawa.
Two winning groups emerged from the McGill Chamber Music Competition held Tuesday, April 16 in Tanna Schulich Hall. The jury consisted of Profs. Fewer, Haimovitz, Hashimoto and Kestenberg, and the event was chaired by Prof. McNabney.
