Dr. Larry Lands, Professor and Division Director of Respiratory Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, was recently awarded a grant from the US Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of $192,000 over 2 years to continue his work on rhinovirus infection in cystic fibrosis bronchial epithelial cells. Dr. Lands was also appointed as Chair of Cystic Fibrosis Canada's Research Advisory Council in February 2017.

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce that Dr. Aris Hadjinicolaou and Dr. Matthew Magyar will be the new Chief Residents for the Pediatrics Residency Program, effective March 13, 2017.  They are both superb residents and leaders and we are delighted that they will be assuming this important role.

Congratulations to Dr. Alexandre Barbier, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, who will be assuming the role of co-Program Director of the Perinatal-Neonatal Fellowship Program. Dr. Barbier is succeeding Dr. Louis Bartholomew, and will be working with fellow co-Program Director Dr. Julie Bartholomew from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Jewish General Hospital to direct what has been a successful training program with a high level of international participation.

Congratulations to Dr. Julius Erdstein, Assistant Professor, who has been appointed Division Director of Adolescent Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics and the MUHC for a five-year term beginning December 1st, 2016. Dr. Erdstein served as Interim Director of this Division since May 2015.
