Sinan Abi Farraj, a senior Materials Engineering Undergraduate student, has been named among the 50 finalists for the inaugural McCall MacBain Scholarship, Canada’s first comprehensive leadership-based scholarship for master’s and professional studies. From over 735 applicants, 50 finalists were selected, chosen based on their character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength and intellectual curiosity.

On Thursday November 7, 2019, we came together for the second annual reception honoring Professor Phil Distin’s memory. This year, students were actively involved in organizing the event as Phil would have liked to see. Students, staff, alumni and friends had the opportunity to share food bites-including oysters, have a drink or two all while Phil’s favorite piano music played.
We would like to express a huge thank-you to those who attended our F2019 UG scholarship awards and Co-op Employer Appreciation event on October 8, 2019 at McGill.

Congratulations to McGill Mining for winning the 2019 World Mining Competition held in Saskatoon. MetSoc McGill Chapter was honored to send Konstantinos Korgiopoulos (President 2018-2019) to COM 2019 conference at Vancouver to receive the 2019 Outstanding MetSoc Student Chapter Award from Professor Mansoor Barati (University of Toronto)! This award recognizes the efforts of the team members who devoted their free time to serve our community.
