“The world is too much with us,” the poet William Wordsworth said a couple of hundred years ago. He was reflecting on the Industrial Revolution, but his observation seems all the more relevant today.
Our lives have been rewired by a new revolution in the form of the Internet, and it has not only brought the world more upon us; it could also be said we are too much with the world.
Such is the conclusion Ashesh Mukherjee advances in his book The Internet Trap.
The McGill Food Analytics Club (McGill FAC) is a student-driven data analytics club that focuses on food. As the world is heading towards a massive food crisis the next decade, there is an urgent need to come up with solutions. Aspire Food Group, a manufacturer of food products made from crickets co-founded by former MBA student Mohammed Ashour, announced that it has acquired Exo, a producer of protein bars made from crickets.

With the rise of Information Technologies, leaders of large corporations are forced to reinvent both themselves and their organizations.
Desautels Professor Alain Pinsonneault comments on the broad appeal of digital platforms enabled by new technologies, the threat they pose to traditional businesses and how the later can adapt.
For Prof. Pinsonneault, it will be important for companies to invest in innovation and to allow for a healthy margin of error.
In a recent opinion piece for Huffington Post Quebec, Desautels Professor Patricia Hewlin uses the box-office sensation Black Panther to illustrate some of her findings on authenticity and conformity in the workplace.
Much like Okoye and Nakia in the film, Prof. Hewlin argues that if employees are empowered by their organization to tap into their true selves, then great benefits are bound to follow for all.
Professor Francesca Carrieri sits down with La Presse to talk about the hurdles that women in finance still face and the initiatives in place at the Desautels Faculty of Management to improve this reality.
For example, the Faculty has launched a task force that aims to show undergraduate women that a career in finance is indeed a viable path through mentorship and internship opportunities.
The former Cisco Systems CEO, John Chambers, has emerged as a public advocate for the Aspire Food Group’s edible cricket foods.
What’s more, he has pledged to invest in the promising company co-founded by former Desautels MBA student Mohammed Ashour. For the record, his favorite flavor is sea salt and vinegar.
