Electronic journal access in January

Electronic journal subscriptions are prone to having access terminated in December, especially on December 31st of each year. Please note that with only a few exceptions, the Life Sciences Library has renewed all of its online subscriptions and it is our hope that our publishers will minimize the disruption of electronic access.

The Global Library of Women's Medicine has launched online and is freely available to all. Over 650 world experts provide a definitive resource on the latest therapeutic options in women's medicine for doctors and women concerned about their health. The Library is free to view at www.glowm.com.

Trial subscription: Informa Healthcare eBooks Collection

The Library has trial access until December 31 to the Informa Healthcare eBooks Collection. This collection contains over 800 titles covering subjects such as pharmaceutical science, toxicology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, drug design and development, oncology, cardiology, dermatology, neurology, and endocrinology. 2008 Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine

This year’s Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine was divided equally, one half to Harald Zur Hausen for his discovery of human papilloma viruses causing cervical cancer and the other half jointly to Francoise Barre Sinoussi, and Luc Montagnier for their discovery of human immunodeficiency virus.

Double sided printing now available in the Library

Effective immediately, all printing at public computers in the library default to double sided printed. Students wishing to print single sided may do so by changing the print default.

Trial Subscription: Henry Stewart Talks: The Biomedical and Life Sciences Collection

The McGill Life Sciences Library is pleased to announce trial access to the Henry Stewart Talks: The Biomedical and Life Sciences Collection. The trial will end on October 14, 2008. The Henry Stewart Talks is a collection of over 700 audiovisual, seminar style, talks commissioned from leading researchers in biomedicine and the life sciences.

New data for Essential Science Indicators (ESI) & Journal Citation Report (JCR) now available

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) has announced that new data for Essential Science Indicators (ESI) and Journal Citation Reports® are now available. ESI was updated recently to cover a ten-year + six-month period, January 1, 1998- June 30, 2008.

Life Sciences Storage now closed

The Life Sciences Storage area is now closed. Duplicates and items in poor condition are being withdrawn, and the remaining books and journals are being transferred to other McGill library collections. Until these transfers are complete, “Life Sciences Storage” items are NOT available.
