Trenholme Dean of Libraries Dr. Colleen Cook has announced the recipients of the 2011 Library Excellence Awards. The awards & recipients are as follows: McGill Librarian Excellence Award was awarded to Amy Buckland, eScholarship, ePublishing & Digitization Coordinator and McGill Library Staff Excellence Award was awarded to Peter Martinek, Library Supervisor, Howard Ross Library of Management.

New Digital Exhibition: Tower of Babel or Universal Understanding? The Art of Translation in the Eighteenth Century
This exhibition tries to address these and other interesting and sometimes perplexing questions about the practice of translation in the eighteenth century. This digital exhibit consists of 82 high-resolution images digitized from works held by Rare Books and Special Collections, McGill University Library. The New York Times recently initiated a paywall for access to their website. The New York Times does not yet offer an institutional subscription. An alternative is Proquest National Newspapers. It contains scanned full-text (no images) of NYTimes from 1980-present. Library is offering access to this database on a trial basis. Please try this database. Send feedback to: email@example.com
