A new feature is now activated that facilitates submitting interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing requests through the Colombo Interlibrary Loan system. Both the McGill WorldCat catalogue and the OpenURL Resolver (i.e. Find Full Text service) offer McGill users the Request item through interlibrary loan option which connects users to the Colombo ILL system. After clicking on the McGill login link, users will authenticate with McGill credentials for Colombo as usual.
Renovations are currently taking place in the Redpath Library Building, making parts of the main floor temporarily inaccessible. Study areas and group study rooms on the main floor of the Redpath Library Building are closed. The e-classroom (Room RM-23), Cybertheque (basement level) and Blackader area (2nd floor) will remain open and are accessible via alternate routes. The Writing Centre can be accessed via the Redpath Hall entrance on the side terrace.

The McLennan-Redpath Library Complex air conditioning system is not functional due to a broken pipe. It will take 7-10 days to complete the repair. Depending on the weather outside, the building may get warmer than usual. Library users can also expect some noise caused by drilling, hammering and welding and are encouraged to use other, quieter, cooler branch library spaces to study. Colombo interlibrary loan database unavailable Friday, June 13, 5:00pm until midnight Saturday June 14
The Colombo interlibrary loan database will be unavailable to McGill users and staff from 5:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 until the end of the day on Saturday, June 14, 2014. As a result, McGill users will not be able to submit interlibrary loan requests during this period.
Off-campus access, interlibrary loan, and authentication services unavailable Saturday, June 14, 10:00pm to 10:30pm
This coming Saturday, June 14, starting at 10:00 PM, McGill IT will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on central authentication systems. As a result, you will not be able to login to most Library services for a 5-minute period of time within the maintenance window. This includes EZproxy (off-campus access to e-resources), Colombo (interlibrary loan), and several other online services.
eScholarship@McGill, including eTheses, eExams and other locally digitized material available via the Catalogue, will be unavailable Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 10:00pm until 10:15pm due to regular server maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Today (June 9) we implemented a number of changes that affect how the Library’s e-resources are accessed by the McGill Community.
The McGill Library is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new service. Effective May 29, 2014, McGill students, faculty and staff may request scanned copies of journal articles or book chapters from the print collection of the McGill Library to be sent to their McGill email address. Updated May 28: The retirement of the eresearch gateway has been moved back to June 9. On Monday, June 9, 2014 the eResearch Gateway will be taken off-line. The eResearch Gateway provides alternate ways of searching for articles, databases, and other electronic resources. This functionality is now provided for the most part by WorldCat and the Library's subject guides.
