This new service (offered by Lund University Libraries, Sweden) provides quick and easy access to information on 18,000 journals. Journal information includes a list of alternative Open Access (OA) journals which may also interest researchers as possible avenues for publication.

SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) has announced a $1,000 cash prize ($500 for the two runners-up) as well as a public screening and "Sparky Award" for the best new short video on "the importance of information and idea sharing." Videos should be 2 minutes or less and should depict the importance of the free exchange of information.

Biological Abstracts Archive (1926-1968) and Zoological Record Archive (1864-1977) are now available online. Biological Abstracts Archive (continued by BIOSIS Previews) is available via OVID Online. Zoological Record Archive is available via WebSPIRs. Both databases can be accessed from the Library Catalogue and the Article Indexes and Databases tool.
