McGill Library is pleased to announce that from January 5 – April 29, 2015, the Islamic Studies Library will be open for study on Saturdays from noon – 6pm. Funding support for this extended study time was made possible thanks to the SSMU Library Improvement Fund.
After nine months of major roof and HVAC renovation work, the Osler Library of the History of Medicine is set to re-open with full service on Monday, January 5, 2015. This project, funded through the Knowledge Infrastructure Program, involved extensive roof work directly above the Osler Library as well as a replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the Library and the McIntyre Building.
The Library is closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 25, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015, inclusive. All branches will open on Monday, January 5, 2015. Check the individual branch pages for specific opening hours: http://www.mcgill.ca/library/branches
Access to McGill University Library e-resources to cease for all ineligible McGill accounts as of January 12, 2015
In July 2013, in an effort to comply with McGill University Library's licensing agreements for electronic content, the McGill Library began a process of analyzing McGill user and affiliated accounts. Members of the McGill community (i.e. faculty or staff member, medical resident or student) continue to have access to the full range of electronic databases, e-journals and other e-resources. Ineligible users (not currently a faculty or staff member, medical resident or student) were no longer given access to these services.

The goal was to collect feedback and ideas and explore how these funds could be used to improve McGill Library. A new feature is now activated that facilitates submitting interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing requests through the Colombo Interlibrary Loan system. Both the McGill WorldCat catalogue and the OpenURL Resolver (i.e. Find Full Text service) offer McGill users the Request item through interlibrary loan option which connects users to the Colombo ILL system. After clicking on the McGill login link, users will authenticate with McGill credentials for Colombo as usual.
Renovations are currently taking place in the Redpath Library Building, making parts of the main floor temporarily inaccessible. Study areas and group study rooms on the main floor of the Redpath Library Building are closed. The e-classroom (Room RM-23), Cybertheque (basement level) and Blackader area (2nd floor) will remain open and are accessible via alternate routes. The Writing Centre can be accessed via the Redpath Hall entrance on the side terrace.
