Creation of the Nicolas Mateesco Matte Graduate Fellowship in Air and Space Law

Postdoctoral Fellow Brice Adanhounme shortlisted for Polanyi-Levitt Prize

Armel Brice Adanhounme, a Banting postdoctoral fellow at McGill University’s Faculty of Law and associate researcher at the Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work (CRIMT), was recently  shortlisted for this year's Kari Polanyi-Levitt Prize for his paper, “Assessing Chinese Investments in sub-Saharan African Countries: An Institutional Perspective.”

McGill Law research team to receive large award for research in arbitration and transnational law

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that its Private Justice and the Rule of Law Research Team was awarded funding for an ambitious program of research entitled “Private Justice and its Laws: Harmonization, Conciliation and Legitimacy”. At $450,000, this is one of the largest peer-reviewed awards ever to have come to the Faculty.

Daniel Clarry wins APDQ 2013 prize for best master’s thesis in Quebec

New books and online database launched by the Crépeau Centre

On April 3, 2013, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law launched three  new books and  a new resource website. During a well-attended reception held in the Common Room, Professor Yaëll Emerich, interim director of the Centre, presented the books and a new database, and took the opportunity to warmly thank the many writers, editors, supporters and colleagues who participated in their preparation.

Fabien Gélinas and Frédéric Bachand named first Norton Rose Faculty Scholars in Arbitration & Commercial Law

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professors Frédéric Bachand and Fabien Gélinas have been appointed Norton Rose Faculty Scholars in Arbitration and Commercial Law, for a two year term. Ronald B. Sklar (1935-2013)

It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Professor Ronald B. Sklar (1935-2013), who passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on March 29, 2013 after a short illness. Associate Professor Ron Sklar taught and researched in the fields of criminal law, evidence, law and psychiatry and ethical issues in psychiatry at the Faculty of Law of McGill University for over 35 years.

Future Royal Society of Canada library to be named after Professor Rod Macdonald

On November 16, 2012 at an event at the Ottawa Convention Centre to mark the 130th anniversary of Royal Society of Canada (RSC), Governor General David Johnston announced the creation of a new library at Walter House, the RSC’s new headquarters in Ottawa. “I am equally delighted to announce that this new reading room, with the support and encouragement of his many friends, colleagues and loved ones, is to be named in honour of Rod Macdonald,” he added.
