New ability to upload admissions requirements through Minerva improves service to applicants, reduces paper waste and increases efficiency

IT Services and Enrolment Services have introduced a new functionality to Minerva that allows many applicants to McGill to upload their required documents (e.g., unofficial transcripts) for admission. Read the full announcement for details.

McGill Wireless - changes to network connection settings, November 1, 2011

On Tuesday, November 1, 2011 changes will be made to the McGill wireless network, which may require some users to reconfigure their wireless connection settings. (1) the WPA wireless protocol/security type will no longer be supported; you must select WPA2 or WPA2-Enterprise (2) The TKIP data encryption type will no longer be supported; you must select AES. BlackBerry delays worldwide

Attention all BlackBerry users: Due to a global problem with Research in Motion's BlackBerry messaging services, BlackBerry users can expect sporadic delays when sending and receiving emails. The problem also affects browsing, BBM and PIN messaging.

New IT service: Contact lists for your mobile device

IT Services’ new CL2Go application (CL2Go stands for "Contact Lists To Go") allows users of mobile devices to keep the most current work contact information of their fellow co-workers, committee members or key departmental contacts, at their fingertips at all times.

Email delivery delays to Yahoo addresses

Email messages addressed to Yahoo domains (yahoo.com, yahoo.ca, etc.) from McGill mail servers are currently being delayed. It seems the Yahoo server has "greylisted" McGill email, probably due to a large quantity of emails coming from McGill within a short period of time. Delivery delays can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the yahoo destination server.

myCourses - problems uploading files

There appears to be a problem uploading files in myCourses. IT Services is currently in the process of investigating the issue to determine the cause. It is still not known if the issue affects all courses or only some of them. We appreciate your patience and hope to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

EVault - Delete Messages feature disabled for all mailboxes during strike

During the current MUNACA strike, the EVault "Delete Messages" feature has been been disabled for all mailboxes. Non-MUNACA Evault users who wish to have this feature re-enabled can contact the ICS Service Desk at support.ist@mcgill.ca or call 514-398-3398.

Wireless connectivity issues for some users

There is currently an intermittent problem with the McGill wireless network, on campus and in REZ. Some users have reported being unable to connect to certain websites, such as Facebook, Yahoo and others. Our technical staff members are working with the external Internet service provider to resolve the issue.

Intermittent file server problems persist

An attempt to resolve network file server issues last night (Sept 7) was not successful. Some users are still experiencing intermittent problems accessing their network drives. Please check announcements on the IT Services site for updates (www.mcgill.ca/it).

Problem with network shared drives and staff storage

There is currently a problem with McGill file servers that mainly affects administrative staff members. When attempting to access your shared network drives, you may receive the error message that they are "not accessible". Technical staff are looking into the issue and hope to resolve it as quickly as possible.

myCourses summer 2011 sections all moved to the myCourses (Fall 2010 and later) link

The summer 2011 courses have now all been moved to the link named myCourses (Fall 2010 and later). Therefore the myCourses (Summer 2011) link has now been removed from the myMcGill portal and the www.mcgill.ca/mycourses web page.

myCourses security warning - OK to continue

You may have noticed a security warning pop-up when accessing myCourses from the myMcGill portal or the www.mcgill.ca/mycourses web page. This message appears sporadically. There is a problem with myCourses recognizing the certificate and the vendor is looking into the issue to resolve it. If you see the warning, click OK to continue. There is no risk allowing the application to run.
