IT Services has successfully installed new critical patches for Trend Micro OfficeScan on all campus computers and laptops.


ORIGINAL MESSAGE

IT Services will be installing two new critical patches on McGill’s Antivirus server, Trend Micro OfficeScan, on all campus computers and laptops. Home computers are not affected.

The upgrade will be staggered and performed at 6:30 pm until 7:00 pm on one of the following days:

Microsoft has announced it is ending support for Office 2007 as of October 10, 2017. This means there will be no support for technical issues or bug fixes and no security updates for vulnerabilities.

In addition, as of October 31, 2017 Outlook 2007 will be unable to connect to Office 365 mailboxes.

There are a variety of phishing emails circulating at McGill designed to look like valid document sharing notifications. One variation contains the subject "Shared Important e-Documents attached to you". The message contains a fraudulent link to "View The Shared File Here". If you have upgraded your iPhone or iPad to iOS 11 you may encounter issues accessing your McGill email. That's because the Mail app on newly released iOS 11 is currently not compatible with Outlook.com (email on Office 365).  If you are still using iOS 9 or iOS 10, you are not affected.

As of May 3, 2017, students who are members of the following groups will not be able to access the uPrint machines on campus with their McGill ID Card, or their McGill username and password:

 - Exchange students
 - Inter-University Transfer students
 - Special and Visiting students in the School of Continuing Studies
 - Special intensive English and French programs in the School of Continuing Studies
