Dr. Karyn Moffatt receives Young Network Investigator Award to research communication and information needs of families navigating hospice care

Dr Karyn Moffatt, School of Information Studies Assistant Professor, was awarded a Young Network Invesigator Award by the Graphics, Animation, and New Media Network of Centres of Excellence (GRAND-NCE) to support her work investigating the communication and information needs of families navigating hospice care.

Amandine Pras, PhD cand., receives Student Paper Award at audio engineering conference

Amandine Pras, School of Information Studies PhD candidate, received the Student Paper Award at the 131st Convention of the Audio Engineering Society in New York City in October 2011 for her paper that reported on an experiment she conducted at New York University Steinhardt during a research residency in Fall 2010.

Professor Peter McNally awarded the 2011 Tremaine Medal and Watters-Morley Prize

Prof. Peter F. McNally has been awarded the Tremaine Medal and Watters-Morley Prize for 2011. The Marie Tremaine Medal is awarded by the Bibliographical Society of Canada for outstanding service to Canadian bibliography and for distinguished publication in either English or French in that field. McGill's Welcome Centre offers guided tours for incoming students

MLIS program successfully re-accredited by the American Library Association

The SIS Master of Library and Information Studies program has been re-accredited for another seven years by the American Library Association in January 2010. Tthe decision to grant continued accreditation to the program was based on the “totality of the accomplishment and the environment for learning…” The program has received continued accreditation since 1927/28.

PhD Mentors in the Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education has selected six PhD students, all with a success record in gaining fellowships, to be mentors to fellow students in the Faculty of Education. Their role throughout the Fall and Winter semesters is to help students identify a variety of doctoral fellowship opportunities, assist student in the application process, and mentor students on developing their CV for future fun
