IT Lab - School of Information Studies news
Please note that there will be 2 maintenance periods, during which electricity will be shut down in Burnside Hall: Thursday, June 18, 7 am - 8 am Friday, June 19, from 3 am - 8 am There will be no power in the building, except for emergency lights and emergency elevators. IT systems will be running on backup power; however there is a risk that essential IT services may be interrupted.
The Library Catalogue will be unavailable from Tuesday, June 23, 5:00 pm until Thursday, June 25, 5:00 am due to a scheduled upgrade. Self-service checkout will not be available during this period.
Students who have recently graduated from SIS can expect to have access to some of McGill's IT services eventually removed. Some services (like email) will continue indefinitely, although there are some actions to be taken to ensure an account remains active.
McGill Security is conducting maintenance on all card readers during the period of May 5-7. During this time, it is possible that you will need to use your ID card to access the lab even during regular hours. If you plan on using the IT Lab during any of these days, please make sure you have your McGill ID card on you.
Please note that evening and weekend hours for the IT Lab are ending Thursday, April 16, 2009. The lab will be open Thursday evening, but after that will only be available Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Midterms are upon us, which typically means more printing! Please remember that you can only add credit to your print account on Mondays from 12-1.
Tax receipts cannot be printed by students accessing Minerva through the myMcGill portal. ICS is aware of this issue and is working on a solution. In the meantime, students can print their tax receipts by accessing Minerva directly.
Please note that there are no extended (i.e. evening) hours in the IT Lab from Feb 23-27. The lab will close at 5pm on Monday - Friday. In addition, access to the school will close at 6pm on those days. The lab will be open as normal on both weekends.
Students and staff can now use the Library Catalogue to book group study rooms located in the Howard Ross Library of Management. To reserve a room, go to the front page of the Catalogue and look for the Room Booking box on the bottom right.
IT Customer Services has implemented a new feedback form in the IT Knowledge Base, so you can send us your comments as well as ideas and suggestions for new articles. The new form is accessible via a prominent pull-down tab at the top of each Knowledge Base article. We will be monitoring the incoming feedback on a regular basis, so please go ahead and tell us what you think.
