Please note that a planned, sector-wide power outage will affect the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex on Friday, April 29 from 5:30am to 7:30am.
The sole source of lighting during this period will be emergency lighting in hallways and exit areas.
For safety reasons, McGill University security guards will escort Library users out of the McLennan-Redpath Complex before the shutdown is set to begin.

MUNACA has obtained a strike mandate from their members, following a vote that took place on April 6. McGill has been informed that MUNACA intends to exercise their right to use pressure tactics and is planning a two-day strike this week on Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21, 2022.

As part of the service disruption as Osler Library of the History of Medicine moves back to the McIntyre Building, please note that no holds can currently be placed on the Osler’s circulating collection, with the exception of the journal collection in the Redpath Library Building Basement. An Interlibrary Loan button has been added to the catalogue for these materials until they are available again.

April 4 - 29 | Extended opening hours at McLennan-Redpath Library Complex & Nahum Gelber Law Library
Beginning April 4, two branches will be open later to give you more time to study and get your work done.
From Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 29, the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex and the Nahum Gelber Law Library will be open for study purposes 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. 24-hour access is generously supported by the Students' Society of McGill University Library Improvement Fund.
Please note that:
As of April 4, McGill students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 13 to 29 examination period. Easter weekend opening & service hours
This spring/summer, the Osler Library of the History of Medicine will be moving back to the third floor of the McIntyre Medical Building. From April - June 2022, Osler circulating and rare collections will be prepped, packed, and transported to the renovated space. Service disruptions are expected to continue through August 2022 as materials are shelved and equipment/furniture is installed.
The McGill Library continues to align its branch activities with general McGill directives outlined in the allnote sent out to McGill students, faculty and staff dated Thursday March 10. An excerpt from the message reads:
Starting March 15, the LibQUAL+ survey will be emailed to a random sample of McGill students and to all faculty, instructors, research assistants, and research associates. This survey provides the opportunity to give feedback on Library services, collections, and spaces.
