IT Knowledge Base upgrade coming May 18
IT Services will be upgrading to a new version of the IT Knowledge Base on May 18, 2011. The upgrade brings us to the latest release from the vendor and paves the way for a tighter integration of the Knowledge Base with the McGill web system in the future. Users will notice a clean new look with improved readability. Note that URLs for articles will change. See full announcement for details.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server problem – server being restarted
There is a problem with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). The server is currently being restarted. Messages will not be delivered over the BES for approximately one hour during this restart. We apologize for this inconvenience.
BlackBerry Enterprise Email users are unable to send mail
Faculty and staff who use BlackBerry devices to access their McGill Exchange email via McGill's BlackBerry Enterprise Server are currently unable to send mail. System administrators have been notified of the issue and are working on the problem. We apologize for this inconvenience.
License for Present software (June 2011 - May 2012) now available for order at www.mcgill.ca/software
If you are a McGill administrator of Present software, you can now order your department's licenses for the 2011-12 fiscal year.
REMINDER: Wednesday May 4, yourspam.mcgill.ca website no longer accessible
REMINDER: On Wednesday May 3, the old website for quarantined email (yourspam.mcgill.ca) will no longer be accessible to release any remaining emails stored there. Users will be redirected to https://junkmail.mcgill.ca.
Wireless network protocol 802.11b to be decommissioned on campus
The 802.11b wireless protocol will be decommissioned on the McGill campus wireless network on May 9, 2011. If you are suddenly unable to access the McGill wireless network you may need to purchase a new wireless network card. If you are unsure, contact the ICS Service Desk for assistance at 514-398-3398.
Staff Email Exchange servers may be slow this afternoon
Staff email is currently slow due to a high load on Exchange servers used for staff mailboxes. Response time will improve as content is synchronized over the next few hours.

There is a network connectivity issue affecting the 15th and 16th floors at 688 Sherbrooke. Technicians have been dispatched to investigate the problem. We apologize for the disruption.

Get ready - myFuture will have a new look on April 6, 2011.
April 8 – New URL for managing quarantined email
McGill’s Anti-Spam Service filters all incoming email and “quarantines” those messages suspected of being spam. On April 8, McGill’s IT Services will change the URL of the website for managing quarantined email messages.

McGill Software Site Upgrade, April 1, 11 am to 12:30 pm
McGill's Software Licensing site will be upgraded to a new version of the eStore on Friday, April 1, 2011. The new website interface offers a more streamlined process for ordering software. If you have a bookmark to the underlying E-Academy site you should replace it with www.mcgill.ca/software.
