For the past 10 years, the Data Warehouse has been taken off-line every night for approximately 90 minutes in order to be refreshed with live production data. Now the data refresh can be done in the background, resulting in only a 5-minute downtime at the beginning of the refresh and another 5-minute downtime upon completion. On Tuesday Feb 22 from 6:45 am to 7:15 am, many McGill web sites (www.mcgill.ca/*) will be unavailable during system maintenance. During this period, users attempting to access any affected web site will view a message advising them of the downtime and providing links to key McGill IT services.
Be aware of fraudulent email messages entitled "Update Your Account" that are circulating at McGill. The email asks you to click an attachment that is a copy of a McGill sign-in form and then submit this data to an external site. Please delete this email immediately! Network performance has been fully restored at McGill’s downtown campus. Connections to the internet and within the McGill network will no longer experience any delays.
McGill IT Services will upgrade the search infrastructure on the McGill website starting on Friday, February 4 at 5 p.m. The new search engines will take approximately 10 days to index the content of all web pages. This may slow down performance of McGill web sites; however there should be no disruption to the web service or the search functionality.

During the add/drop/withdraw course period, we anticipate heavy traffic on the myMcGill portal. If the portal experiences problems due to this heavy usage, users will be redirected to a web page with links to all major IT services including Minerva, Email, myCourses, and more.
Due to high volume of usage at the beginning of term, the myMcGill portal has been experiencing intermittent problems. To remedy this situation we have established a cap on the number of simultaneous connections permitted.
