Recent advertisements purchased by MUNACA in campus newspapers and some Montreal dailies have contained misleading and inaccurate information. The University administration understands that in the heat of a labour dispute, rhetoric can go beyond normal discourse and things can be said or done, in support of a position, which might not otherwise be advanced. Nonetheless, errors demand correction.
The University regrets that, despite intensive bargaining, the help of a provincially appointed conciliator and an offer to increase salaries by 8.5% over three years ending November 30, 2010, a contract agreement with MUNACA has so far proven elusive.
To: Management Staff and Staff in positions excluded from the MUNACA bargaining unit 2008-09 Salary Increase Implementation: The 2008-09 Salary Policy is comprised of a total salary increase budget of 3%. Salary increase implementation guidelines provide for a minimum increase of 2% for all staff meeting the requirements of their job.
Human Resources is continuing its in-depth review of total compensation for the management group. A workgroup composed of representatives of MUNASA and Human Resources was established last winter to review and formulate recommendations regarding the salary structure and the salary policy for M staff.
The time has come - to discuss and appraise achievements of M staff members for the 2007/2008 reference year and to set objectives for the coming year.

To: All McGill Staff and Students. Last night, AGSEM, the union representing Teaching Assistants and Demonstrators at McGill, declared a strike against the University.
Human Resources and the Office of the CIO would like to announce a change in plans regarding this year's move from the Present attendance system to the new Banner Web Time Entry application. For the coming fiscal year (2008-09), we will be piloting the new Banner system with a limited scope of 400 staff in IT and HR units. Other departments that have been using Present may continue to do so until the new Banner system is fully operational, in June 2009.
Organizational & Staff Development News - The Winter Calendar is now available. The French at work session will resume on January 14/15, 2008. Leadership Development Program - The third cohort will be commencing the LDP this February.
The Staff Benefits Advisory Committee (SBAC) has completed its annual review of the Benefit Plans. We are pleased to report that the financial status of all the plans remains very positive.
As in previous years, the deadline to convert the two (2) floating holidays into working days is May 31, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. Employees who opt to convert their two (2) floating holidays will receive 0.8% of their annual salary as of June 1, paid as a lump sum on June 15 of each year. Please note that the option to convert these days is irrevocable.
