Three bargaining units represented by SEU Local 800 (FTQ) (Facilities Management, Student Housing Services, Dining Services & Faculty Club; Printing Services; and Data Centre) have agreed on all aspects of a new collective agreement with McGill University. The Union and the University will finalize the text of the agreements during the summer, and the proposed agreements will be submitted to membership votes in early fall 2016. On February 9, 2016, MUNACA and McGill signed a new collective agreement. An agreement in principle was reached between the parties, and the Union’s executive will submit it to members for ratification on December 8. The first meeting was held on June 12. The parties introduced their respective negotiating teams. They exchanged their set of proposals and discussed how the bargaining process should unfold. The parties also agreed on a shared communications approach throughout the bargaining process.
McGill’s postdoctoral fellows received their accreditation from the Commission des relations du travail on June 9, 2015. They become the third bargaining unit of AMURE/PSAC, which already includes research associates and research assistants.

Since the last meeting on March 20, the parties met for the first time in the presence of the conciliator appointed by the Department of Labour. The conciliator invited the parties to present their respective views of the elements that are holding back the advancement of negotiations.
