Police warn Welsh pupils over 'sexting' Source: BBC News, Feb 10, 2015 Police are visiting every school in Wales to warn pupils of the dangers of "sexting". As well as cutting down on cyberbullying, there are fears young people do not know they could be breaking the law by sending sexual images. It comes as Safer Internet Day is highlighting online safety.
The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce Dr. Steven Jordan’s appointment as Chair of the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE). Following an external search Dr. Jordan was unanimously selected by the Advisory Committee and endorsed by the Dean. His appointment as Chair is effective February 15, 2015, for a duration of three years.
McGill’s Faculty of Education and the Institute of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies have joined the lead partner, Dalhousie University, to embark on a 6-year, $18 million project to help Ethiopia enhance their colleges’ Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education Training (ATVET) programs. Key to McGill’s involvement in the project will be to foster and support gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness.

Dr. Victoria Talwar is Associate Professor with the Faculty of Education's Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University. She is director of the Talwar Research Team for Understanding Children's Behaviour Through Research. She has been working in the area of developmental psychology for over fifteen years with an emphasis on social-cognitive development.
Dr. Mitchell’s Participatory Cultures Lab secures upgrade Dr. Claudia Mitchell of the Faculty of Education’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) and her research team have secured a major grant from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to upgrade her Participatory Cultures Laboratory in the Coach House.
Winner of the coveted Bloomberg Manulife Prize for the Promotion of Active Health, Dr. David Jenkins swept through Toronto and Montreal last week on a whirlwind lecture series that included three presentations and two media interviews over a three-day span. The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce the 2014 Heather Reisman and Gerald Schwartz Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2014 Faculty of Education Distinguished Teaching Award are Professors Annett Körner and Nathan Hall, respectively.
For the Fall 2014 semester the Faculty of Education introduced an Education for Sustainability course with instructors Elizabeth Wood, Caroline Riches and Anila Asghar. The description of the Special Topics course (EDEC 300) was enticing enough for Constantinos Yanniris, PhD student in the Faculty’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education, to attend as an observer. What he found there so inspired him that he reached out to his classmates and the Faculty in an effort to promote the class’ subject matter.
Dr. Shaheen Shariff of the Department of Integrated Studies in Education is author of the new publication Sexting and Cyberbullying: Defining the Line for Digitally Empowered Kids from Cambridge University Press.
