Professor Jeffrey Derevensky, of our Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), has been awarded the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling's prestigious Joanna Franklin Pay-it-Forward Award for outstanding contributions to the field of gambling and the training of the next generation of professionals.
The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce that Professor Anila Asghar has been appointed as the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. In this role Dr. Asghar is responsible for facilitating the ongoing development of successful research programs, and for promoting the excellence of our graduate students by actively supporting and coordinating all facets of graduate academic life in the Faculty of Education.
The Faculty of Education at McGill University proudly saw over four hundred of our students cross the stage this past Thursday, June 2nd at McGill's annual convocation ceremonies. Celebrating their finest moment were 429 Faculty of Education students who received a degree or certificate this year, including 297 undergraduates, and 115 students pursuing graduate studies. Counting the family, friends, and loved ones, over 1,600 participants celebrated convocation on behalf of the Faculty of Education this year.

Dr. Susanne Lajoie’s research is featured in a flyer promoting the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences’ campaign on “Smart Ideas for a Better Tomorrow – Supporting Youth and Education.” The flyer explains that “Dr. Lajoie designs and assesses new technologies that support learning and training to solve complex real-world problems. By studying how people learn and retain information, Lajoie and her team design innovative, intelligent, computer-based learning environments for high school math and science classrooms and for university medical schools.”

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. William Bukowski from Concordia University, gave an excellent talk on the role of friendship in the onset and further development of anxiety during adolescence.
Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky, Chair of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill's Faculty of Education, is pleased to announce that the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) now accredits the department's School/Applied Child Psychology program. "This accreditation is an acknowledgement that the program achieves the highest national standard in professional preparation for school psychologists," stated Dr. Derevensky. The program continues its accreditation with the Ordre des psychologues du Quebec.
This week Delta Kappa Gamma International announced their 2016 World Fellowship grants, established to provide opportunities for women from foreign countries to pursue graduate studies.
