Darche is First McGill Grad in 58 Years to Score NHL Playoff Goal

Mathieu Darche (BCom’00) of St. Laurent, Que., scored the game-winner as Montreal defeated Boston 3-1 to take a 2-0 series lead in their best-of-seven Stanley Cup Eastern Conference quarter-final round, Saturday.

Mathieu Darche is our pick for Bill Masterton Trophy

After a decade of bouncing around the minor leagues, Darche is enjoying a career season with the Canadiens, which is one reason why the Montreal chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association has nominated him for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The trophy is awarded annually by the PHWA to a player who exhibits perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Three McGillians to play for Canada at IIHF world championship

Labonté, a two-time Olympic gold medalist from Boisbriand, Que., will join fellow goaltender and McGill alum Kim St-Pierre of Châteauguay, Que., as well as former Martlets rearguard Catherine Ward, from Town of Mt. Royal, Que. to play at the 2011 IIHF world hockey championship tournament.

Darche shows his will to win

Only three regular-season games remain for the Canadiens, but the race to the playoffs is not yet over. It is, however, looking better for them after taking a stride forward with their 3-1 win in New Jersey on Saturday. How important was it? It's all about winning in the last gasps of a tight race. It's better when players refuse to lose. The name is Mathieu Darche.

Always remember your roots

We can say with great certainty that there were at least a couple of Montreal Canadiens players tuning into Sunday night's CIS men's hockey finale. They would be McGill alum Mathieu Darche (BCom’00) and centre David Desharnais, who had the Redmen's Francis Verreault-Paul on his wing for four years with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

McGill BCom students place 2nd at the McGill Management International Case Competition (MMICC 2011)

McGill BCom students put their case analysis and presentation skills to the test once again at the 11th annual McGill Management International Case Competition (MMICC 2011) which took place from March 22 to 26. After presenting in the morning and afternoon to two different set of judges, the McGill team placed 2nd overall out of a total of 11 competing universities.

World's top 100 universities 2011: their reputations ranked by Times Higher Education

The rankings based on a survey of 13,388 academics over 131 countries is the largest evaluation of academic reputation and is used partly used in indicators for compiling the well-known Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
