It is for this rea son that the interpretation of what constitutes patentable subject matter is under constant evolution as new technologies are developed in the life sciences. Examples shall be discussed of how the courts have interpreted s uch issues up to present day\, in an effort to assess trends and the futur e of patenting in the life sciences.\nAbout the speaker\nSerge Shahinian i s a Patent Agent and Partner with the intellectual property firm Goudreau Gage Dubuc. He has been practicing in the intellectual property field sinc e 2000\, following prior doctoral and post-doctoral training in biochemist ry and biology. His practice covers a wide range of technologies in the li fe sciences\, including biotechnology\, and pharmaceutical and chemical te chnologies.
