MONTREAL - Andrew Wright of Toronto and Anneth Him-Lazarenko of Laval, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 20, 2011.

Wright, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward with the men's hockey team, scored seven points in two playoff games as the Redmen swept Ottawa 2-1 and 10-5 in the OUA East Conference quarterfinals last week. The 21-year-old economics junior tallied twice and added four helpers in the deciding game to eliminate the Gee-Gees, Friday. In Game 1 of the series last Wednesday, he returned to the lineup after missing three games to injury and assisted on McGill's first goal in a 2-1 victory. He enrolled at McGill out of Crescent School in 2007.

Him-Lazarenko, a 5-foot-10 forward with the women's basketball team, registered "double-doubles" in consecutive victories over both Bishop's and Concordia, scoring 45 points and grabbing 24 rebounds. She shot a sizzling 69.2 per cent from the field (18/26) and 75 per cent from the foul-line (9/12) to go along with five assists and a pair of steals. A 23-year-old education junior who is majoring in secondary social science, she netted 27 points and pulled down a dozen points in a 79-78 overtime win over Bishop's. She followed up the next day with an 18-point, 12-rebound performance in a 77-56 conquest over Concordia. Him-Lazarenko, who leads the Quebec conference scoring race with a 15.7 average per game, is a product of Vanier College.
