Update on MUHC hotline for hip surgery patients

The hotline set up on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 by the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) to answer patients' questions about the reamer sterilization issue and the recall of some arthroplasty hip surgery patients has received a total of 273 calls to date. In addition, the nurses staffing this hotline service have contacted 167 of the 179 patients on the recall list. Appointments for testing have been booked for 159 of these patients. We have been unable to contact five patients and seven patients are deceased. As of today, the hotline is closed and patient calls will be referred to the Infectious Disease Clinic at the MGH site.
