University Services

Published: 16 April 2007

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to announce the formation of the "University Services" structure of McGill University. This unit was established as part of the recent reorganization of the Administration and Finance portfolios into the three areas of Financial Services, Human Resources, and University Services.

The objective of University Services (organization chart) is to build a sense of unity and purpose between service units and the University community in support of McGill's teaching, research and public service goals. These units include:

  • Ancillary Services,
  • Buildings, Grounds & Special Events,
  • Facilities Development,
  • Facilities Operations,
  • Physical Planning (part of the Planning & Institutional Analysis office), and
  • University Safety (comprising Environmental Health & Safety and Security & Fire Prevention Services)

To find out more about University Services and how we can help you, please visit our website. In addition, a complete document that provides an overview of University Services, descriptions of individual units and the services they offer, and contact information is available via the web.

We look forward to serving you.

Jim Nicell, PhD, PEng
Associate Vice-Principal (University Services)
and James McGill Professor
