Synchro squad captures seventh consecutive league championship

TORONTO -- The McGill Martlets captured their seventh consecutive Gerry Dubrule trophy as Canadian University Synchro Swim League champions, Saturday.

McGill won the team routine, which garnered the John Drake trophy, as the Martlets finished first of 15 schools.

The advanced solo routine was on by McGill's Laura McClemont, a psychology sophomore from Toronto. Teammate Jeannette Verleun, a senior majoring in nursing, finished first in the novice solo routine. McGill also won the team routine for novices.

The McGill tandem of Carrie Mouck and Lisa Portney placed second overall in the duet routine. Mouck is a civil engineering freshman from Toronto, while Portney is an environmental science junior from Andover, Mass.

The winning team routine was composed of McClemont, Mouck and Verleun, along with Samantha Allen, Annie Alport, Emmanvelle Beaulieu, Emilie Blanchard, Niamh Curran, Fanny Devaux, Alexandra Dimmer, Roxane Heroux-Legault, Shannon Herrick, Paula Kent, Susanne Klassen, Katherine LePage, Laura, Erica Messore, Eira Nesbitt-Wood, Lauren Pinkus,  Karling Roberts, Simone Sinclair Walker and Freija Walter.

The Martlets are coached by Vanessa Foucher, Jennifer Gill Wilson, Lynn Macrae, Tao Tao, Ran Tao and Cassandra Bilogan.
