SHERBROOKE - Chloé Belhumeur-Limoges, a freshman striker from Drummondville, Que., tallied twice in a three-minute span to cap an outburst that featured four goals in seven minutes, as Sherbrooke smothered McGill 4-0 in women's university soccer action, Sunday.

Hélène Meunier-Asselin redirected a rebound from Josée Bélanger in the 43red minute and Bélanger made it 2-0 just before halftime. The Vert & Or continued the onslaught early in the second stanza and Belhumeur-Limoges scored in the 47th and 50th minutes to bury any chance of a McGill comeback.

"We showed two sides today," said head coach Marc Mounicot. "We started and finished the game at the same pace and quality of play that Sherbrooke had. Unfortunately, there were two short lapses, just before and after halftime, where we lost focus and that proved costly.  Sherbrooke was very opportunistic and had all the momentum when they came out for the second half."

"We are in the same situation of last year, two losses to open the season against the top two teams in our conference. However, it is not time to push the panic button. We have a young but talented team and can put everything together with some hard work."

Goaltender Marie-Michelle Coulombe, a six-foot senior from Malartic, Que., made five saves to earn the shutout. Shimone Slomowitz, a sophomore from West Vancouver, B.C., was credited with three saves and took the loss for McGill

The Martlets (0-2) will head across town to take on Concordia (0-2) in a battle of winless teams on Sept. 18, then play at UQAM on Sept. 20. Sherbrooke, which improved to 2-0, will host the undefeated Montreal Carabins (2-0) the same night.
