Professor Lisa Cohen awarded a SSHRC Connections Grant

Published: 7 December 2012

Prof. Lisa Cohen was awarded a SSHRC Connections Grant for her project “The structure and structuring of work within and across organization.” Connection Grants support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. These events and activities represent opportunities to exchange knowledge and to engage on research issues of value to those participating. Events and outreach activities funded by a Connection Grant may often serve as a first step toward more comprehensive and longer-term projects potentially eligible for funding through other SSHRC funding opportunities.

The Structuring of Work within and across Organizations
Call For Papers: Paper Development Workshop

Date: July 6-7, 2013
Location: Desautels Faculty of Management
Organizers: Diane Burton, Lisa Cohen, Michael Lounsbury

Objective:

In recent years our ability to explain the structuring of work in organizations has been challenged on multiple fronts. The world of work is changing in many dramatic ways-- globalization, economic meltdowns, technological development—with dramatic implications for societies and organizations. Our theoretical tools and empirical evidence are not adequate to explain the role of organizations in the process of structuring this work. To advance scholarship on this issue, we are sponsoring a paper development workshop, We welcome both conceptual and empirical papers that examine aspects of this phenomenon from multiple perspectives and multiple methodologies. We especially encourage submissions from advanced doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior (pre-tenure) scholars.
