Congratulations to Dr. Gonzalo Cosa (Department of Chemistry) who is the winner of the 2009 Inter-American Photochemical Society's Young Investigator Award. He will receive this award and present an award lecture at the Society's upcoming Winter Conference, January 2-5, 2009. The I-APS Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding photoscientific contributions by Society members who have held an independent research position for no more than five years at the time of application.
Professor Cosa's research is in the area of chemical approaches to biological imaging. His group uses fluorescence-based strategies to seek to understand cellular signaling and cellular function, and to develop faster diagnostics for disease detection.
