Postdoctoral Research Associate at McGill University and the Social Innovators’ Integration Lab (SIIL)

We are seeking candidates for a fully funded Postdoctoral Research Associate starting Winter 2016. The research associate will work with Emmanuelle Vaast, Associate Professor in Information Systems and Associate Director of the Social Economy Initiative within the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University.

The candidate will conduct social economy research while assisting with the oversight of partnership and program development for the Social Innovators’ Integration Lab (SIIL).  Housed within the Salon 1861, SIIL will be a shared observatory for social innovation and entrepreneurship within le Quartier de l’Innovation, and will establish a long-term presence for academic researchers, students and practitioners to examine in-depth innovative social ventures and the factors and processes that make them fail or succeed. Management and social geography scholars, as well as researchers from other relevant disciplines, will work with local social economy organizers and entrepreneurs to facilitate the multi-dimensional creation and transfer of knowledge among multiple stakeholder groups.  Inaugural partners of SIIL include: QI (non-profit organization), Gestion immobilière Quo Vadis, and le Regroupement économique et social du sud-ouest (RESO).  

The Postdoctoral Research Associate position is a two-year appointment with the possibility of extension. Applicants must have completed a doctorate no longer than five (5) years prior to the fellowship start date in management disciplines and demonstrate disciplinary expertise in the study of the social economy and multi-sector partnerships for learning and exchange. French language proficiency is a strong asset for community-based research and engagement in Montreal.   Research fellows are encouraged to participate in the numerous scholarly activities held at McGill and at the other Montreal universities. The salary is competitive and candidates will not be expected to teach for credit-courses for the duration of the award although may lead workshops or present their work and research on their primary area of expertise.

Nous recherchons des candidat(e)s pour un poste d’associé(e) de recherche postdoctorale entièrement financé à partir de l’'hiver 2016. L'associé de recherche travaillera avec Emmanuelle Vaast, professeure agrégée en systèmes d'information et Directrice adjointe de l'Initiative de l’Économie Sociale au sein de l'Institut Marcel Desautels pour la gestion Intégrée à la Faculté de Gestion Desautels de l'Université McGill.

Le / la candidat(e) devra effectuer des recherches d'économie sociale tout en aidant à la surveillance de partenariat et de développement de programme pour un laboratoire d'intégration des innovateurs sociaux (SIIL). Installé dans le Salon 1861, SIIL sera un observatoire partagé pour l'innovation sociale et l'entrepreneuriat dans le Quartier de l'innovation, et établira une présence à long terme pour les chercheurs universitaires, des étudiant(e)s et des praticiens pour examiner les entreprises sociales innovantes en profondeur, surtout les facteurs et les processus qui facilitent   la réussite et l’échec. Les universitaires de gestion et de géographie sociale, ainsi que des chercheurs d'autres disciplines pertinentes, travailleront avec les organisateurs et les entrepreneurs de l'économie sociale locaux pour faciliter la création multidimensionnelle et le transfert de connaissances entre divers groupes d'intervenants. Les partenaires inauguraux de SIIL comprennent: le QI (organisation à but non-lucratif), Gestion immobilière Quo Vadis, et le Regroupement économique et social du sud-ouest (RÉSO).

La position postdoctorale est un contrat de deux ans avec  possibilité de prolongation. Les candidats doivent avoir obtenu leur doctorat pas plus de cinq (5) ans avant la date de début de la bourse dans une des disciplines de la gestion et  démontrer une expertise disciplinaire dans l'étude des partenariats de l'économie sociale et multi-secteur pour l'apprentissage et l'échange. La maîtrise du français est un attribut important pour la recherche et l'engagement communautaire à Montréal. Les boursiers de recherche sont encouragés à participer aux nombreuses activités scientifiques tenues à l'Université McGill et dans d’autres universités montréalaises. Le salaire est concurrentiel et le candidat ne sera pas tenu d’enseigner des cours  pour la durée de l’engagement bien qu’il/elle peut animer des ateliers ou présenter ses travaux et recherches sur son principal domaine de compétence.
