The Canada School of Public Service will be visiting McGill University to give an information session regarding post-secondary recruitment to the Public Service. In conjunction with an information session, there will be the opportunity for students to bring their resumés and attend an on-the-spot interview immediately after the session. Students are not required to attend an interview, but if they are interested this option is available to everyone who attends the session. The Canada School of Public Service is a federal government department responsible for all civil servant training within the federal government. The Canada School of Public Service is seeking potential employees who have studied at the undergraduate or graduate level in education, political science, information management, or public administration.

The potential positions available are PE-02 to 06 (Learning Specialists) and ES-02 to 06 (Economics and Social Services Groups). The Canada School of Public Service is planning to hire 10-20 students as learning specialists; experience and salary levels will be dependent on the qualifications of the individual. Generally, these positions would include the following (not exclusive) duties:

• Design, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of courses
• Providing services and assistance on training activities
• Policy and program development
• Identify, recommend, conduct research and analysis pertaining to governance, critical management and other issues confronting public sector managers
• Managing/conducting applied research and studies on a broad range of critical governance and management issues facing the Public Service and government
• Providing expert advice and briefings to senior management on broad, of the implications of the research initiatives to support the agenda of the Public Service
• Leading and managing project teams and/or working groups related to course delivery or other projects
• Leading and participating in simultaneous, multidisciplinary project teams or work groups
