Published: 17 February 2010

On Tuesday, February 16, at the Centre Mont Royal in Montreal, McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management held the prestigious Peter Brojde Leadership Lecture featuring Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Group Founder and President. Branson inspired a full house of over 800 McGill students, faculty, and alumni, and the lecture was streamed live to over 500 viewers worldwide.

Complimented with colourful videos, Branson illustrated his personal business attempts and experiences, as well as his successful business path and the importance of philanthropy. His remarks were followed by a public interview led by Desautels Faculty of Management Professor Karl Moore; BCom student and President of the Management Undergraduate Society, Barbara Dourley; and Chris Lannon, MBA student and host of the Desautels CEO Speaker Series.

The Peter Brojde Leadership Lecture was established in memory of the co-founder of Eicon Technology Corporation to provide a public forum that challenges students, faculty and the general public to understand how businesses can be a force for confronting and overcoming societal and economic problems of global scope. The Lecture’s mandate is to invite acknowledged business visionaries to discuss a variety of subjects or to give personal insights into how they achieved success. Inaugurated in 2007, the Lecture featured Madeleine K. Albright, Former U.S. Secretary of State.
