Canadians have a duty to increase access to dental care

Roughly one-quarter of Canadians cannot afford basic dental care. Thirty-four per cent of those in the poorest income group, compared with only nine per cent in the richest group, avoid the dentist because of the cost. Similarly, 46 per cent of those without dental insurance and only 10 per cent with insurance avoid the dentist due to costs. These are among many indicators illustrating the strong inequalities in access to dental care that exist across Canada.
