Published: 21 November 2011

MONTREAL - Leslie Oles of Beaconsfield, Que., and Francis Verreault-Paul of Mashteuiatsh, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Nov. 20, 2011.

Oles, a 5-foot-3 forward with the women's hockey team, scored five goals and assisted on two others as McGill swept a pair of road games over Montreal and Ottawa last weekend. The physical education sophomore celebrated her 21st birthday with a hat-trick and one assist in a 10-1 victory over the Carabins last Friday. She added two more goals and set up another in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Gee-Gees. The seven-point performance moved Oles into first place in the league scoring race with a 10-4-14 record in nine games. She attended Kuper Academy before enrolling at McGill in 2010.

Verreault-Paul, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward with the hockey Redmen, scored three points in McGill's 6-0 home-ice victory over Queen's last Saturday. The 24-year-old psychology senior scored twice and added an assist as the No.2-ranked Redmen improved to 10-1-2. Verreault-Paul, who recently returned to the lineup after missing four games due to injuries, has racked up eight goals and one assist in his last five contests. Prior to enrolling at McGill, he attended College de Chicoutimi while playing junior hockey with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
